Her playing is spot on, her vocalizing terrific and her songs are well-crafted and catchy.  Her music is swing-based and readily appealing.  This is an album full of good-spirited jazz that reflects the impressive artistry of Carling.

Multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/songwriter Gunhild Carling is one unique performer.  On Jazz Is My Lifestyle(Jazz Art), she fronts a big band and The Prague Strings Chamber Orchestra for a program of eleven original tunes for which she wrote words, music and arrangements.  Originally from Sweden, she now resides in northern California.  She plays trumpet, trombone, harp, flute, recorder, ukulele and theremin, as well as providing all of the vocals.  She even did the artwork for the album.  Her playing is spot on, her vocalizing terrific and her songs are well-crafted and catchy.  Her music is swing-based and readily appealing.  This is an album full of good-spirited jazz that reflects the impressive artistry of Carling.  (gunhildcarling.net)
